Feeling Better

Almost better
I really struggled to sleep last night because I was listening out for Felix over the monitor, and he wasn't making a sound. Usually he wriggles about and makes a few little noises but, last night, there was complete silence coming from his room. I got up so many times during the night to check on him and, every time, he was sleeping peacefully. His fever broke in the early hours of the morning; I was so happy to stroke his head and feel it cool on my hand. I think I was actually able to sleep for a few hours after that.

Felix woke up this morning so much better. His appetite was back, so he ate all his porridge and had a big drink. It was great to see him laughing and even making his crazy faces again. Last night he walked around for the first time, before he went to bed, and it was like he was drunk; he could barely balance. Today, he was much more steady on his feet. He is looking so much stronger and, although he's still very tired and a bit unwell, he is definitely on the mend.

Eating again!
Poor Felix; he has been so hot and sweaty with his fever that even his room smelt damp and musty this morning. I put some nice, fresh sheets on his bed and gave him a long soak in the bath, which he loved. It's a little bit annoying having to put ear plugs in his ears and his swimming band on his head, but he doesn't seem to worry about it too much. If anyone can tell me how to wash Felix's hair without getting any water in his ears, please message me. I'd love to give it a really good scrub, but I don't want to get any water in them. The ear, nose and throat specialist told us not to get his ears wet until after he has had his follow up appointment (which isn't until February). I'm new to the whole 'grommet' thing, so any advice is welcome :)

A crazy face is always a sign that he's feeling better
Today I packed away all of our Christmas decorations. Why is it that the decorations take so much longer to take down than they do to put up? It seemed to take me all day! Thankfully, Felix now has his play area back in our lounge room. One of the first things he did was to get on his little bike and push it along. He hasn't had much room in there for bike riding over Christmas. Not only have the decorations taken up lots of room, we have also had extra people staying at our house, so there have been mattresses on the floor and people sleeping on the couch. The house looks very empty now. It was nice to have our family staying here, filling up the house. I'm sure that Felix is wondering where everybody went.
